Kenneth L. Doty, 64, of Decatur, IL passed away with his family by his side at 2:08 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 10, 2010) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday (Aug. 13, 2010) in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. Friday at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr. Suite 105 Danvers, MA 01923. Mr. Doty was born on December 16, 1945 in St. Elmo, IL, the son of Richard William and Dolly M. (Carter) Doty. He retired in 2002 from General Transfer after twenty-five years of service. He also was a school bus driver for the Warrensburg School District for five years. He and his wife were bowlers for the King and Queens Bowling League. He married Linda L. Scrimpsher on August 16, 1964. Mr. Doty loved his family and was very proud of his two sons and his four grandsons.
Surviving is his wife: Linda L. Doty of Decatur, IL; sons: Michael W. (Maria) Doty of Huntley, IL, Robert K. (Jody) Doty of Decatur, IL; brother: Charles R. (Connie) Doty of Decatur, IL; sisters: Patricia Mahon of Decatur, IL, Barbara (Virgil) Hart of Decatur, IL; four grandsons: Joshua Doty, Aron Doty, Dillon Doty and Brandon Doty; long-time buddy: Terry Williams of Ramsey, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: William Doty, mother-in-law: Edna Grotjan, brother-in-law: Emery Scrimpsher.

I remember Ken and Linda from the old Steak and Shake day in the early 60's.
I remember cruising Eldo and Pershing with Ken. Those were fun times.

I was so saddend when I heard of Kenny's passing. He had a huge impact in my life growing up. Are thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Doty family.
